Standing up for more accountable leadership in Washington
Congressman Yoho was first elected to office in 2012 in one of the Nation’s biggest upset elections in recent history. His primary election was a 4-way race against a 24 year republican incumbent who boasted a $2.5 million war chest. Despite having a single paid staffer, running his campaign out of his home and only enough money for one commercial, he won the August primary with 829 votes. He went on to win the general election with over 65% of the vote.
Currently, he represents Florida’s 3rd Congressional District which encompasses all of North Central Florida and spans 6 counties. He serves on the House Agriculture committee as well as the House Foreign Affairs committee where he is also the Ranking Member of the Asia, Pacific and Nonproliferation subcommittee.
Despite his very vocal and continual challenge and criticism of both parties, he has proven himself to be an effective and principled lawmaker. Some of his notable accomplishments include:
Returning over $1,200,000 from his office budget to the Treasury for the purposes of deficit reduction.
Authoring and passing legislation denying the President executive amnesty under the Obama administration
Introduced the TRUST Act (Trust Restored to the United States Taxpayer) which would strip the taxpayer-funded portion of elected official's benefits should they be convicted of a felony
In addition to voting against former Speaker John Boehner three times, he offered his name as an alternative to his colleagues in an effort to take the Speaker's race to a second ballot. This move started the #FireBoehner movement which resulted in the unprecedented stepping down of a sitting House Speaker without scandal or illness
During his 7 years in office, Ted Yoho has garnered over $12,000,000 for seniors, veterans, and individuals in recovered benefits.
Ted Yoho secured funding for four VA clinics in North Central and North East Florida in 2017 and was proud to announce the award of a fifth VA clinic in Middleburg, FL on August 1, 2018!
Architect of the BUILD Act, the first major reform to U.S. Foreign Aid since 1970. This legislation was signed into law by President Trump in 2018.
Ted Yoho is a large animal veterinarian and small business owner by trade. Prior to serving in Congress, he had never sought nor held any political or appointed office. He is a “double” Gator having earned his bachelors and DVM from the University of Florida. He has been married to his wife Carolyn for the last 43 years and they are the proud parents of 3 adult children. Their oldest, Katie is actively serving in the Coast Guard.
